Matt Usi is currently a undergraduate at UCLA in the Theater Department’s Production Design track. With his expected graduation date of Spring of 2007, Matt works with UCLA’s Center for Research in Engineering, Media, and Performance (REMAP) on projects where his knowledge of both theory and execution of theater is applicable.
Matt also has worked with Fullerton College as a resident Stage Manager for various productions before his academic transfer to UCLA. During his time at Fullerton College, he received a “Special Achievement in Stage Management” nomination from The Kennedy Center, for his role in the college’s production of “A Street Car Named Desire”. He has also worked as a sound designer for Cal State University Fullerton, which resulted in a nomination to the ACTF (American College Theater Festival) showcase. Matt also works with the Pasadena Civic Ballet as both a Stage Manager and Lighting Designer.
When Matt isn’t locked in a dark theater, he can usually be found at Disneyland as a Entertainment Support Cast Member.
Matt is currently working on his Senior Project entitled “The Shadows of Nagasaki” that will debut in Spring of 2007. This dimensional art installation is based on the events of the atomic bombing of Japan.
