A responsible, collaborative and self-reflexive approach to engineering, arts and culture is the central objective of REMAP's educational efforts. UCLA is uniquely situated to train professional engineers and artists capable of understanding both the global evolution of technology and the day-to-day needs of local communities. REMAP enables students to explore the complex relationships of their work with technological innovation, cultural identity and social development.

REMAP connects cutting edge cross-disciplinary research with teaching through project-based courses, mentorship, campus collaborations and student production opportunities. It aims to create a community of rigorously-trained students motivated to thoughtfully integrate artistry and technology.

Critical study, technological research and cultural production are interwoven to influence each other in ways that strengthen the breath and depth of REMAP's students and visiting scholars.
